Check out HBHS hockey player Nic Woods as he and the Junior Black Sticks attempt to qualify for the play-off rounds in Delhi.  Nic is shown in action at right against Asian Champions Malaysia, a tightly contested match that, unfortunately, did not go the way of the New Zealanders.  For more information on the Junior Black Sticks and their progress at the World Cup, check out the link below:

HBHS, Canteen and the Great Head Shave

27th Aug 2009, 2:00pm

HBHS student James Wotton and 24 of his school mates had their heads shaved to raise funds for Canteen, in front of a crowd of 300 well wishers and supporters on Thursday lunchtime. Many thanks are due to The Edge, who MC’ed the event, and a squad of hairdressers worked for half an hour to give the boys ‘number ones’. A number of the boys looked serene on the stage as they went from being bushy to bald. We are particularly grateful to Courtney Bell from Morph Hair, William and Judith from 5X Barber Shop and the Rodney Wayne girls for helping our boys during this radical transformation.

While the boys were being shaved, Chris Stacey (an old boy of the school) spoke about his experiences as a teen with cancer, and Aukia (from Canteen) explained to us the ways in which our donations would be used to support teens like Chris, as they battle to get well.

The inaugural HBHS/HGHS Talent Quest was held last week, drawing an audience of more than 400 excited students and family members. The evening featured twelve competing acts; six from each school, as well as some general entertainment while the judges deliberated.

Sam Franicevic won the competition with a guitar solo, covering various recent pop songs. There was a general consensus that this was the strongest act of the night. Alex Carlton-Thomas, Peni Fotu, Romana Graham and Winiata Lambert formed an ensemble for the evening, and gained a third placing with a soulful rendition of ‘Stormy Weather’.

10th Feb 2011, 11:42am

Good morning boys. I am Rahiti Teokotai-White, your Head Prefect for 2011.

I came to Hamilton Boys’ High School four years ago,in 2007, a small, quiet Polynesian boy from across the road at Peachgrove Intermediate, and before that a small primary school in Tokoroa of about 150 students.
I arrived scared and unaware of what this large school had to offer. But by the end of the year, I had taken to Hamilton Boys’ High School like a duck to water, making many new friends along the way.
Throughout my time at Hamilton Boys’ High School I have

Headmaster's Christmas Message

13th Dec 2010, 9:04am

Dear Parents,

As we reach the end of the 2010 school year, we can take a moment to look back and reflect upon the time we have shared, and to feel a genuine sense of gratitude for the wonderful experiences which the year has brought us.

It has been another special year, and as I have attended the celebrations of Term 4, culminating in our recent Senior Prize giving, I have, once again, been in awe of the talents and achievements of so many, in so many areas of school life. We have a great deal to be proud of, and much to look forward to, as we prepare to build upon our many successes through the year ahead.

And it is not only our successes which bring pride and satisfaction; it is the truths and verities which we accept as a school which sets us apart. At the Senior Prize giving I spoke about one of our key goals – to ensure that every young man is happy, fulfilled, and enriched by his time with us. Happiness in the true sense of the word brings the understanding that it does not come from feeling good, but from ‘knowing’ good and ‘doing good’ – recognizing St Benedict’s truth that’ the purpose of life, is a life of purpose’.
