HBHS/HGHS Talent Quest

The inaugural HBHS/HGHS Talent Quest was held last week, drawing an audience of more than 400 excited students and family members. The evening featured twelve competing acts; six from each school, as well as some general entertainment while the judges deliberated.

Sam Franicevic won the competition with a guitar solo, covering various recent pop songs. There was a general consensus that this was the strongest act of the night. Alex Carlton-Thomas, Peni Fotu, Romana Graham and Winiata Lambert formed an ensemble for the evening, and gained a third placing with a soulful rendition of ‘Stormy Weather’.

Pop-culture referenced dances featured heavily in the Girls’ High offerings, while a number of solo performers from both schools used the event as a platform to launch original pieces or covers of well-known favorites.

The standard of the performances were uniformly high.  Many of the acts exceeded the expectations of the audience, and all of the performers were warmly received for their efforts.  The HBHS and HGHS prefects are to be congratulated for organising and hosting such an enjoyable showcase of each school’s talents.
