Support the HBHS 3rd XV this Saturday
This Saturday on August 17 at Cambridge Memorial Park at 12pm, the HBHS 3rd XV will play Cambridge High School 1st XV in the Waikato Division 1 1st XV finals for the Ian Foster Shield. This is the first time that the 3rd XV have ever made it to this level in the competition, and the team would love to see as many supporters as possible in HBHS red and black cheering them on as they attempt to make school and competition history. Coaches Mr Jeremy Quigley and Mr Mita Graham and Manager Ms Wendy Moffitt, along with all of the players and their families and friends look forward to seeing everyone on the sidelines, and would like to take this opportunity to thank all of their supporters for their help throughout this season. See you at the game!

HBHS Year 9 Paul Clout competed in the U14 Board Race, the Board Rescue, Beach Sprints and Flags.
Swim Champ Returns
Jesse Reynolds arrived back at school this week after attending the Paralympics NZ Swim Camp. He has learnt a great deal about the pathways for elite athletes within PNZ and is excited about the possibility of competiting at the highest level. Jesse has been moved from the National development squad. He has instead been fast tracked to the 'Xccelerate to Xcellence' programme to enable him to compete more frequently at an international level this year.
Jesse not only achieved another PNZ national record during intensive development sessions on camp; he also improved on the records he currently holds. Jesse has qualified for the National Champiionships in April, the Arafura Games in Darwin in May, and is likely to make the final qualifying time for the Pan Pacific
Take a step back in time with school singing
Thanks to our archivist Kate Holdsworth, we can take a step back in time to 1968 and listen to an extraordinary piece of audio from the end-of-year prizegiving nearly 45 years ago. Click the link below to hear the class of 1968 sing the dismissal hymn "Lord Dismiss Us", recorded in the Founders Theatre and sounding as fresh as if it was recorded at an assembly today. Special thanks must go to Mr Warwick Seeney, an old boy of the school from 1964 - 1968 for sending us this wonderful piece of memorabilia.

Talofa Lava to Samoan Language Week
Talofa lava to the HBHS families and friends during Samoan Language Week. Today's phrase is:
Fafaga fanau i upu ma tala. Tautala i lau gagana.
Translated this means: Feed the children with words and stories. Speak your language. This phrase recognises the importance of language in maintaining history and heritage and how vital it is to keep speaking and practicing our languages.
Pictured at right is our Teacher in Charge of the HBHS Pasifika Group, Mr Oliva Cowley, along with student members of the group.
