Hamilton Boys’ has convened seven of the 20 teams taking part in the 2012 Waikato Summer Golf League. The competition is run in two divisions; division one is for our elite golf teams, where they play stroke play (count each shot).  The winning team is decided by the combined scores of the three best players. Division two is ambrose, where everyone takes a shot from best ball.

It has been a mixed start to the week for HBHS teams competing in the 2013 Summer Tournament Week.  The junior cricketers did not play at all due to rain, whilst the senior team lost to Westlake Boys' High School.  The senior volleyballers also went down in a close match against Napier Boys' High School by 3 sets to 2.  Things are looking good for the rowers out at Lake Karapiro, with the Senior 8 qualifying for the Maadi Cup final on Saturday, and other crews were successful in their heats.

Seven Hamilton Boys’ High School Touch players represented New Zealand recently in their age-group categories (U15 and U17). The boys travelled to Australia to play in an international tournament during the weekend of the 22^nd-23^rd September. The players included: Teina Courtney, Chey Riki-Hamana, Caleb Korteweg, Kalani Beattie, Te Rongopai Murray, Mattie Landsdown and Te Maire Martin.

Super 8 Competition

HBHS took out the Super 8 Touch Championships after beating Rotorua Boys’ High School 8 – 2 in the final. This finals were held on Sunday 23 September in Rotorua. The winners were described by their coach Mr Kirkham as a really young team, as five of our premiere team were representing New Zealand in Australia during the competition or playing for the NZSS National Rugby team.

The HBHS 1st XI cricket team continue on their winning way in the 2013 Super 8 cricket tournament, with a victory over the Palmerston North Boys' High School 2nd XI on Tuesday.  The Palmerston North Boys' High team, batting first, were all out for 120 runs, a target that Hamilton Boys' High School were able to overtake in 25 overs for the loss of 5 wickets.  The HBHS team go on to face New Plymouth Boys' High School 1st XI today.

The Hamilton Boys' High School 1st XI has made an excellent start to their Super 8 campaign, beginning with a comphrenesive victory against Gisborne Boys' High School.  HBHS made 290 runs for 7 wickets, and then bowled Gisborne out for 71 runs.  The team face Palmerston North Boys' High School 2nd XI today, after the withdrawal of the Rotorua team. 

The Hamilton Boys' High School 1st XI will contest the final of the Super 8 cricket competition today, against a very strong Palmerston North Boys' High School 1st XI team.  The match begins at 10 am, and we wish our team the very best of luck in what will be a challenging contest.
