From 1 January 2017, HPV immunisation is free for everyone, male and female, aged 9 to 26 years, including non-residents under the age of 18 years.
HPV immunisation is available through participating schools or from family doctors, local health centres and some Family Planning Clinics.
Dr Dilawar Singh and Dr Lakhminder Sandhu from Hamilton Lake Clinic, have offered to provide HPV vaccinations for boys at school during school hours. They have already immunised Year 12 and 13 boys and this immunisation drive is for Year 9, 10 and 11 students.
It is a free vaccine which helps to prevent penile cancer, cervical cancer, anal cancer, genital warts and certain oral cancers.
Parents can choose to get their son vaccinated at school or through their GP.
Consent forms will be coming home with students and these forms need to be returned by 5th July.
If you have any questions about this vaccination or the process, please contact Hamilton Lake Clinic on 078390092 or 0226201600.

Over the last few years a significant amount of gully restoration work has taken place in the Hamilton Boys’ High School Gully in order to transform it into a haven for native plants and wildlife.
At the moment we are trying to source native grasses (carex) to cover new cleared areas in the gully. If you are able to donate some carex could you please bring them through the Argyle entrance and place them outside the Grounds and Maintenance Workshop, just past Argyle House.
We have gully restoration working bees with student volunteers about every 2 weeks to plant new native species and keep the weeds at bay.
If you have any questions or suggestions regarding plants you may be able to provide, please direct them to mkirkby@hbhs.school.nz
Thank you
Martin Kirkby
