5 Day Voyage Spirit of New Zealand
Are You Up For The Challenge?

We have an opportunity for a few more Year 10 boys to join our group for a fantastic adventure on the ‘Spirit of New Zealand.’

What Happens on a 5 Day Voyage?

Our group of 10 boys will compete against three other schools with one clear challenge – to win the coveted Spirit trophy! Activities in the programme include ship-handling, teamwork, problem-solving, debating, and water sports (in and on the water). Teams also go ashore and complete tasks against each other and enjoy competitive games that involve ingenuity, leadership and fun.

No sailing experience is required. Sailing is just one part of the voyage. Each sailing has a team of experienced sailors. Be prepared to help!

www.spiritofadventure.org.nz can also give further information on 10 day voyages for students between 16 and 18 years.

Cost $850 per student. Students must be able to swim 100m. Each day begins with a quick swim, (not that far).

Dates 13th to 18th October - includes the last weekend of the coming holidays. We usually join the boat the night before it sails. Please check your calendars carefully as trips can be jeopardised if people pull out at the last minute.

Parents are responsible for transporting students to and from the boat. Students will be accompanied by Mr N Hunter, Deputy Principal.

Please e-mail jtizard@hbhs.school.nz to express interest.

Kind regards
Mr J Tizard
HBHS Spirit of Adventure Coordinator

Testimonial
“I went on the Spirit over 10 years ago now. I was a shy teenager and I was scared especially of jumping into the water each morning! But it did wonders for my confidence and it’s something I will never forget! Awesome experience! ”Kayla, Past Trainee (2005).
