Merito Wins NI Champs and Trans-Tasman Test
<Extract from Te Awamutu Courier>
HBHS student Codi Merito was in a class of his own recently, taking out all seven races and winning the 15 Boys' title in the North Island BMX Championships in Whangarei. He also competed in the Trans-Tasman BMS test (held in conjunction with the North Island races), helping the New Zealand side to dominate convincingly.
The senior male test team captained by Merito completed a New Zealand double with a 103-92 win over an Australian team including two World No. 4 ranked riders, Brand Te Hiko (15 boys) and Brock Griffiths (14 boys). Merito won all of his team races.
We congratulate Codi on his exceptional performance in this highly competitive sport. Next year's North Island Championships will be held at Casteton Park in Te Awamutu. We invite you to add this date to your diary of sporting events for 2013.

Moascar Cup Competition: Auckland Grammar vs HBHS 1st XV
The 1st XV faced off Auckland Grammar for the Moascar Cup in mixed conditions at HBHS yesterday. HBHS won the toss and played into the wind, dominating both possession and territory. AGS showed courage in the face of an exceptionally strong team, but just didn’t get the ball, leading to a score of 22 – 0 to HBHS at half time.
The HBHS forward pack shone during both halves of the game. In particular Fraser Armstrong and Nick Ross demonstrated that this team are now firmly back on the ground and looking forward to the New Plymouth Boys’ High Exchange next week. The final score of yesterday’s competition was a 41 – 12 win to HBHS. We would like to encourage any of our Old Boys or community members would like to come along and watch our teams in action. Your support is always welcome and appreciated.
