More Motocross success for HBHS riders
HBHS riders continue to make their presence felt in this popular and fast-growing sport over the weekend in Rotorua. Teacher in charge of Motocross, Mr Nathan Vassella, reports on the team's latest results...
On the 12th of April, the HBHS Motocross team travelled to Rotorua and competed in the Western Heights Secondary School Motocross Tournament. This was the 20th anniversary of the popular event, which attracted 250 students from all over the North Island.
All of the HBHS riders demonstrated great determination throughout the day of competitive racing and scored valuable points for the School. HBHS secured an impressive second place out of the 35 competing schools.
The two stand-out riders from HBHS were Jacob Steel (Y12) and Josiah Natzke (Y10). Jacob won all of his races and subsequently secured a 1st place trophy in the 13-16yrs 150 and 85cc. Josiah dominated the 13-14yrs 125cc class by winning all of his races and gaining the 1st place trophy.
Riders, families and supporters are now preparing themselves for the New Zealand Junior Motocross Championships. This event will be held in New Plymouth during the School holidays. HBHS wishes all of these riders well in this championship and we look forward to hearing of their success.
