2013 Prefects
Being selected to be a prefect is an honour for a Year 13 student, and recognises that the chosen student is a young man with leadership potential. Due to their fine qualities, these boys are role models for the student body, and as such they perform a range of important duties throughout the school over the course of the school year.
The following students were made prefects at the full school assembly held this morning.
Jason Park
Joshua Barkle
Liam Cairns
Douglas Clapcott (cont.)

2013 School Production Opens Wednesday
“Tom Sawyer”, Mark Twain’s American classic is this year’s HBHS and HGHS major production. Everyone knows the story about growing up in St Petersburg Missouri in the late 1840’s. Getting the boys to paint the fence, falling in love with Becky, witnessing a murder and attending his own funeral are just some of Tom and Huck Finn’s adventures.
Brought to the stage, with music, it captures the freedom of youth and life in the south. This delightful play will run for six performances at the Meteor Theatre from August 14 to 17 starting at 6.30pm. Included in the talented cast of 48 pupils from both schools are Year 9 students Liam McGuire as Tom and Luke Brooker as Huck. Both boys starred in last year’s fabulous Hamilton Operatic production of “Oliver” starring Richard O’ Brian of Rocky Horror fame.
Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults and can be purchased at Ticketek.com or at the Meteor Theatre. We look forward to seeing you all there.
Mr Colin Leach
Director

On Monday 19 August at 7pm the 2013/14 rowing season will begin, with Mr Glenn Ross and some of the senior crew members speaking about what the season has in store for parents and their sons. Attendance is compulsory for all rowers and parents and guardians are expected as well. Students are to be dressed in either school uniform or traveling uniform (number 1's). It is hoped that this meeting will provide an informal opportunity to meet with parents and answer questions about rowing at HBHS. Drinks and light refreshments will be served. Please RSVP to Kelly Tupaea by 12 August at tupaea5family@xtra.co.nz or via the relevant age group co-ordinator. Pictured at right are two HBHS members of the New Zealand Under 19 Four, Ryan Rasmussen (at left) and Alex Bardoul (second from right) who were members of the triumphant Maadi Cup squad this year.

Today HBHS headed off to Porritt Stadium to brave the blazing sun and decide who the individual and House champions would be in 2014. Taylor House continued to perform strongly after their successes at the Swimming Sports, but it would be Tait House who would take out the competition today, winning the field events and coming second in the track competition. The full list of age group champions, House points and new records are listed below, but first we must congratulate Mr Todd Miller and the Physical Education department on another superbly organised and thoroughly enjoyable day.
