Football
HBHS is very proud of its football programme. Waikato Secondary School Football champions for thirteen of the last fourteen years and NZ Super Eight Champions in 2010, 2013, 2014 and 2016, the 1st XI is the flagship for football in the school and in the greater Waikato region. In 2017 HBHS made Waikato history, with the 1st and 2nd XI teams winning National titles for the first time in the school's history.
Our Junior Colts Programme is a genuine focus for the successful development of the sport. We boast six colts squads and 16 teams in total at the junior level alone.
Our Elite Sports course, taught at Years 9 & 10 by former Waikato Bay of Plenty captain and All White Aaron Scott provides serious footballers with access to the very best coaching. Sports psychology and nutritional matters are also covered in the course.
HBHS provides excellent competition in secondary school football. Traditional exchanges against other top schoolboy sides and, of course, the Super Eight Football Tournament, allow our boys to access competitive football at the highest level. Year 9 Colts A plays in the Scott Shield Tournament and Year 10 Colts A competes in the Hillsdene Tournament.
With 38 teams entered into the Waikato Secondary Schools Football competition in 2017, HBHS guarantees that there will be a place for you in the beautiful game.
The 2018 Football draw will be made available when it comes to hand.
