World Class Running by Isaiah Priddey

While most of us were resting up in the April school holidays, our star middle-distance runner Isaiah Priddey was busy competing in the World Schools Cross Country Championships in Budapest, Hungary where he finished in 16th place.  The conditions were challenging, with approximately 300m of the course surface gravel, which Isaiah described as "like running on sand" and very sapping in each lap.  The race was a fast one, on a hard and flat course in very warm conditions, which took their toll on Isaiah.  Even so, his results were outstanding,  Isaiah ran 5km in 15.17min and was the second New Zealand athlete across the line, with the New Zealand team finishing sixth overall.  He also finished in second place for athletes born in 2000, which gives him the opportunity to return in two years time, as he was racing boys who were two years older than him.  This has been an extraordinary year for Isaiah, and once again we congratulate him on an absolutely outstanding result.  Next up for him is the New Zealand Championships, and we very much look forward to following his progress.
