Wills Represents NZ in Volleyball
HBHS student Morgan Wills has developed a significant national profile, playing for the New Zealand Under 17 Men's Teams (black and white uniform Morgan is shirt number 3) and the Hamilton Men's Team (blue and yellow uniform, shirt number 8).
The New Zealand U17 team travelled to Australia on the 28th of July for two weeks, to compete in the State Championships in Victoria. They remained unbeaten in the first week, finishing second overall because, as a foreign team, they were not allowed to compete in the final. The team then travelled to Horsham for the Trans-Tasman Test Series, where they played the Australian Under 18 National Youth team and lost 0-3 in the series.
Morgan travelled down to Nelson In the Hamilton Men's Team, to compete in the National Club Championships on the 22nd of August. The first day the team came up against the defending champions (Sparta) and lost 2-3, but then played North Harbour and won 3-0. On Day Two, the team played South Auckland and had a very close game, losing 1-3. On Friday they played Nelson Pines (who won the tournament) and lost 0-3. The team then finished off with a win against Hawks to finish of ninth overall in the tournament from the 18 in the competition. The Hamilton Team feel that they held their own and improved on last year's performance.
We congratulate Morgan on his excellent sporting performance.
