William MacErlich Memorial Rugby Match
On Wednesday 20 September, the annual William MacErlich Memorial Rugby Match was played between two invitational teams of Day students and Argyle House Boarders. This match, and the accompanying trophy, is played to honour the memory of Old Boy William MacErlich who tragically died after a short illness in 2005. William was a boarder at Argyle House, played for the 3rd XV Rugby team, and was a talented cricketer. This year William's father Ian was in attendance, along with family and friends from William's time here, and presented the trophy to Jonas Pomare and the Argyle House team who retained the title, despite the best efforts of the Day students who led for much of the second half until Tevita Fa'ukafa charged over the line with seconds to spare. The final score was 22 - 20 in a match that was played with spirit and heart. Thanks to Joshua Devlin for match photography.
