Welcome to 2017!
Yesterday was our first day of the school year at HBHS, and we welcomed our Year 9 students and new staff and students with a powhiri and the school haka which was performed with such pride and power by the Year 13 students. Headmaster Mrs Susan Hassall invited all of our new students to aim for excellence in the year of the fire rooster, according to the Chinese calendar, with a call to aim for arete in 2017. Arete is a favourite term at HBHS, as it is a greatness that can be achieved by each and every student in their own way. We thank one of our new parents, Ms Tracey Hankins, for the footage of the haka which features on the TVNZ Breakfast website. To watch, click here and enjoy!
