Waikato Intercollegiate Golf Day

Monday 4 May saw HBHS's biggest involvement ever in a Waikato Golf event.  We sent seven teams from all year levels and every team performed exceptionally well, with the worst team score a respectable even-par round and the winning result an unbelievable 14-under par.  There were nine different schools in total competing  from the whole of the Waikato and all of our teams had a thoroughly enjoyable day.  The Year 9 team finished fourth with a net score of 57 and the elite golf teams took out second and third with scores of 14 under and 13 under, but due to their low handicaps their net scores ended up being 56 and 54.  The eventual winners were our Year 13 group of Connor Stuthridge, Logan Stewart, Ben Jefferies and Ryan Madden who shot 9 under and with their higher handicaps they finished with a net score of 54.  Considering the par for the Matamata golf course is 71, all of these results are impressive.  We are certainly hoping that these excellent efforts will give the boys the confidence they need to challenge local arch-rivals St Peter's in the stroke play championships to be held on May 11.
