Two New HBHS National Athletics Champions

The NZSS Athletics Championships were held in Hastings on Saturday and Sunday the 11th and 12th December.  Hamilton Boys’ High School had 11 athletes competing, managed by Athletics Coach, Mr Barrie Jennings, an HBHS parent.

We congratulate the boys on the following achievements:

Two National Champions (Gold Medals)

1. Jacob Priddey, Year 9 age group, 3km Road Race Champion (9 seconds ahead of the second placegetter)

2. Matthew Holcroft, Open Boys, 3km Walk (2minutes & 25 seconds ahead of the second placegetter)

Three Bronze Medals

1. Jacob Priddey, Junior Boys 3000m, 9:18.55, a new school record, taking 19 seconds off the previous HBHS record Jacob set in October 2010. Even more impressive was the fact the 3000m was run only three hours after he had won the 3km Road Race.
