The Golf Report - Term 1 2013 Progress
The HBHS Golf Teams have been out and about this term, competing in a range of tournaments and competitions. Teacher in charge of Golf, Mr Brendon Cooley, reports on how the teams have fared…
The HBHS Number 3 team of Max Gabolinscy, Matt Davis, Maxwell Palmer and myself recently won the Teams Competition in an Ambrose tournament at Waikere Golf Course. We also competed in the Waikato Summer League, finishing 2nd behind St Peter’s by 10 shots in Division 1. This does mean that the boys are going to have to work very hard to be ready to challenge them on May 13 for the one available spot in the National Golf Championship. HBHS won Division 2, with Jack Perkinson, Connor Stuthridge and Mr David Perkinson claiming first prize in the Ambrose tournament.
Meanwhile, Captain of Golf Denzel Ieremia has been travelling around the country and has claimed a number of titles, including 1st in the Under 17 North Island Championships, and 1st in the Kaimai Classic. Other impressive results include a 2nd place in the Under 19 North Island Championships, 7th in the Rotorua Open, 19th in the Open Men North Island Stroke Play Championships, and 44th in the Open Mens Stroke Play Championship.
The Elite Golf Team have been preparing for the intercollegiate championships and upcoming exchanges by attending 1st XV morning trainings and Pro Drive sessions on Wednesday mornings at 6.30am. We are hoping that this hard work will pay off in the upcoming months.
