The Creative Space Art Exhibition Opening
Tonight saw the opening of the Creative Space Art Exhibition in the HBHS School Hall, which brings together a wide range of artists from around New Zealand who will share the gallery space for the upcoming week with students, staff and other artists who share links with the school either as parents, former staff members or former students. The school has been fortunate to obtain the support of the Ratana family who, as respected contemporary Maori artists, bring a diverse range of practices and viewpoints to their art. Their work represents three generations of artists in one exhibition, with Donn, Saffronn, Aimee (one of her installations is pictured, right) and Te Waiarangi forming the heart of the show. The title of the exhibition refers to the physical environment in which the art is shown, as well as the state of being an artist enters in order to bring forth their artwork. This is a wonderful opportunity for HBHS to showcase work from some of New Zealand's well-known artists, alongside the work of members of the HBHS family, past and present. The exhibition is open to the public from 9am - 4pm from Saturday 22 June to Sunday 30 June at the HBHS School Hall, on Peachgrove Road. Selected works are for sale and funds raised will go to the development of arts within the school. The school would like to thank Portfolio Art Hire for their support in bringing this exhibition to fruition.
