Te Maurea Whiritoi Overall Third at Tainui Regional Kapa Haka Competition
The combined HBHS and HGHS Kapa Haka Group Te Maurea Whiritoi have won their way through to the National Kapa Haka Competition with an overall third placing in the Tainui Regional Kapa Haka Competition held at HBHS on what has been a wonderful Saturday for the school. The competition was won by previous champions Nga Taiaatea Wharekura from the school of that name, with Raakaumangamanga, from Te Wharekura O Raakaumanga in second place. All three of these schools will go through to the National Championships to be held at a later date. Congratulations to all of these schools, and a special congratulations to the Chairperson of the Organising Committee, and Dean Of Maori Students at HBHS, Matua Toti West, along with his committee for putting on what was a magnificent day.
