Te Maurea Whiritoi 2018
Te Maurea Whiritoi, our joint kapa haka group with Hamilton Girls’ High School, had a very successful week at the biennial National Secondary Schools Kapa Haka Competition in Palmerston North during the last week of Term 2.
Despite being in the “pool of death”, Te Maurea Whiritoi was ecstatic to qualify to perform a second time on finals day, so that they could deliver the bracket to its maximum potential. Te Maurea Whiritoi was one of two finals day groups that came from fully mainstream schools.
Results for finals day have not yet been issued, however, we achieved the following results from preliminary rounds:
Kākahu: 2nd place overall
Kaitātaki wahine: 3rd place overall
Whakaeke: 3rd place overall
Whakawātea: 3rd place overall
5th place overall
Their finals day performance can be watched via the following link. Please note that the video expires on Friday 3 August.
