Some highlights:
Most valuable player of the Super 8 Tournament HBHS team was Zac Woods. The officials of the Super 8 Team named the most valuable player of the tournament Matt Rees-Gibbs. The team got better and better with each game. During the semi-final against Tauranga Boys’ High, the 1st XI were down 2-1 and showed great spirit, fighting back for a 4-2 win. A similar situation happened in the final, when HBHS were down 3 goals to 1, 10 minutes into the second half, and then went on to score 6 unanswered goals in the final 20 minutes for a convincing 7-3 victory. The goals scored in that period were some of best goals seen in school boy competition this year. We are delighted for the 1st XI, and wish them well in their preparation for the Rankin Cup competition during Winter Tournament Week.
