Summer Tournament Week Latest Results

Our Junior Colts Cricket team lost by 8 wickets to New Plymouth Boys' High School in a low scoring match with HBHS bowled out for 56.  They then suffered another loss to Auckland Grammar who notched up 270 for 4 and then bowled HBHS out for 86.  In their last match the HBHS side beat John McGlashan College by 2 wickets to finish in 4th place overall. With three teams equal on 6 points each, the final position was determined on net run rate.

Our 1st XI Cricket team had a scare against Tauranga Boys' College in their semi-final.  The Tauranga side was bowled out for 71, with HBHS getting home with 2 wickets to spare.  The final against St John's College was more comprehensive, with HBHS scoring 258 for 7 and then bowling St John's out for 120.  The win means HBHS will represent Northern Districts in the Top 6 National Tournament in Christchurch this December.  Congratulations to the team on this win.

After a tough start our Tennis team had a good 4 - 2 win against Christ's College to end up in the play-off for 7th and 8th against Wakitipu College which they unfortunately lost 6 - 0.  

Our Softball team were competing in the NZSS Division 2 Tournament in Papakura.  They began with a 5 - 3 loss to Auckland Grammar and then had good wins against Tolaga Bay Area School (19 - 1), Green Bay High School (9 - 2), Tauranga Boys' College (19 - 1), Rutherford College (7 - 2), Gisborne Boys' High School (2 - 0) and Rosehill College (11 - 4).  

In the NZSS Waka Ama Regatta in Rotorua, Te Wakaiti Southon finished in 5th place in the Under 19 250m Singles event.  Zan Southon and Tarik Jennings both made the Plate Division in the Under 16 250m Singles event. 

Our Waterpolo A and B teams competed in the NISS Championships in Auckland this week.  Our A team lost 18 - 1 to Sacred Heart College, then beat Palmerston North Boys' High School 6 - 2.  Losses to St Patrick's College (8 - 5) and St Peter's College (10 - 3) put them in the play-off for 15th and 16th against Green Bay College which they lost 9 - 5.  The B team lost 10 - 3 to Auckland Grammar B, then beat Rosmini College B (9 - 2) and Green Bay College B (19 - 1), only to lose to St Kentigern College (8 - 3) and Cambridge High School (7 - 6).  They ended up in the play-off for 7th and 8th against Rangitoto College B, which they won.  

The Senior and Junior Futsal teams have had very different tournaments in Wellington, with the Junior team losing 6 - 4 to Hastings Boys' High School, then losing to Waimea College from Nelson (4 - 3), St Patrick's from Wellington (4 - 2) and Shirley Boys' High School from Christchurch (6 - 4).  The Senior team have won all of their matches, beating Nayland College from Wellington College (15 - 1), Rongotai College from Wellington (4 - 1) and Havelock North High School (12 - 0).

Our Triathlon teams have had arguably the pick of the tournament venues in Queenstown, with our Under 14 team finishing 9th and our Under 19 team finishing 5th in the NZSS event.  Congratulations to Bradley Cullen on his third place in the Under 19 Individual race.

The Under 15 Sevens team began with a 24 - 12 loss to Rotorua Boys' High School but bounced back to beat New Plymouth Boys' High School 24 - 5.  They beat Manukura School 25 - 7 but lost their quarter-final against Tauranga Boys' College 24 - 5 and ended up facing Manukura again in the Plate Semi-final.  They won this match 33 - 7 and then beat Palmerston North Boys' High School 22 - 14 in the Plate Final to finish in 5th place overall.
