Sean Hickey wins Bronze at National Waterskiing Championships

HBHS student Sean Hickey has won a bronze medal at the National Water-skiing Championships, held at the Piarere Waterski Club on Lake Karapiro over the Easter weekend.  Sean came second equal with 2 buoys on the 14.25m line, and on countback won the bronze, with Sean skiing a personal best to clinch the medal.  This involved him reaching speeds of up to 55km per hour as competitors accelerate throughout the event on each pass.  Sean was nominated for the gutsy skier award, and made the finals in Tricks, eventually finishing fifth, just missing another bronze medal by 300 points.  Congratulations to Sean on this achievement and thanks to Fairfax NZ for the photograph which featured on the cover of the Hamilton Press.
