Results Round Up

At Wednesday's Senior Assembly we celebrated all of the latest successes achieved by our teams and athletes.  Our Swim team dominated at the Waikato Secondary Schools Championships, achieving 18 wins, 18 second places and five third places, meaning HBHS was the top boys school in the Waikato for the thirteenth year running.  During the April school holidays, our combined HBHS and HGHS Ki-O-Rahi team headed to Auckland to defend their National title.  They won through pool play very easily and beat Mana College 25 - 3 in their quarter-final.  However things came unstuck in the semi-final and they lost to Te Wharekura O Rakaumangamanga 14 - 21, which meant they had to face Gisborne Girls' and Boys' High School in the playoff for third and fourth.  Unfortunately they went down to the Gisborne team in a tight match 14 - 17, meaning a fourth place finish overall.  In selection news, Year 13 student Sam Digglemann has been selected to represent New Zealand in Athletics at the Oceania Championships in Suva, Fiji, this July, and Isaiah Priddey is off to the Bahamas later this year to represent New Zealand at the Youth Commonwealth Games.  The Assembly concluded in fine style as the HBHS Pasifika Group (pictured), who represented our school with such pride at last Saturday's Pasifika By Nature Festival, treated the senior school with a combination of energetic and skillfully choreographed traditional dances.  We very much look forward to seeing and hearing more from this group.
