Olympic Hopeful Put Through His Paces

Swimmer Carter Edgecombe competed at the Open National Championships/ Olympic Trials in Auckland last week.  This was his first bite at the Open competition and proved to be a fabulous experience. Being part of a championship where elite and carded athletes were competing and vying for National Open Titles and Olympic spots was inspirational and very exciting. It not only made the top Age Groups Swimmers realise how far they had to go, but what can be possible with hard work and years of commitment.

Carter competed in the 400m amd 1500m freestyle he gained a place in the B final for both races and was placed third in the 1500m freestyle final.

He leaves on Saturday to compete in Brisbane at the Australian Age Group Championships, his first international competition, where he hopes to race fast and hard to gain a place in the finals for as many events as possible.
