NZSS Athletics Championships results
Our Athletics team have just returned from the NZSS competition in Dunedin and they have brought back medals of every hue. Our Year 9 3-man road racing team has won gold, with Mathijs Wetzels also an individual gold medallist in the same event. Joseph Morgan won silver behind him and Adam Morgan’s 12th place finished the deal for the team. Year 11 student Charles Annals has just moved into the senior division, and he won 2 silver medals, in the triple jump and long jump. His triple-jump distance of 14.11m broke his own Intermediate school record, and in jumping 7.05m in the long jump, he is officially the youngest athlete in New Zealand to jump over 7m. Year 13 student Patrick Dowd won bronze in the Senior Boys 800m. Congratulations to all of these boys on these great results, and thanks and congratulations to Ms Tonia Heeps for her support of the team.
