Max Stephens wins National Power Chess Individual Competition
Over the weekend, the HBHS Chess team contested the New Zealand Schools Power Chess Tournament in Auckland, and came away with fantastic results. On Saturday Year 10 student Max Stephens won the individual competition, beating 237 players to earn the title of Junior Master. On Sunday he joined the team event, along with Sean Clark, Michael Lin, Ben Wright, Nathanael Loy, Zane Brown and Andy Song who finished second in a field of 20 school teams. Congratulations to these boys on their win, and thanks and congratulations to Teacher in Charge of Chess, Mr Graham Nolan.
In other sports news over the weekend, our 1st and 2nd XI Cricket teams had wins, and in their first regatta of the new season, our rowing crews pretty much won every event they were in. Well done to all of you.
