Matthew Munn wins National First Aid Competition

Year 13 student Matthew Munn (pictured here with Governor-General Sir Jerry Mateparae last year) joins our growing list of New Zealand Champions of 2015 after winning the Monkhouse and Kershaw Trophy for Individual First Aid at the National Youth Competition which was held in Christchurch during the April school holidays.  In addition to demonstrating his practical first aid skills, Matthew also had to prove he was capable of managing psychologically fragile patients.  This meant he had to show how he would treat a distressed and suicidal young mother suffering from post-natal depression, a task that proved very challenging for a number of contestants.  Congratulations to Matthew on this fine win and we look forward to following his continued involvement within St John.
