Luke Kidd Leading HBHS Golf Success in 2018

Rising HBHS golf prodigy Luke Kidd has had a prolific start to 2018. During the school holidays, Luke got his year off to a great start coming 6th at the North Island Under 19 Tournament. He followed this up by winning the first round of the HBHS Golf Championship, blistering the field by 13 strokes shooting a 3 under 69. The following day he played in one of Waikato’s biggest Amateur events, the Brian Perry Classic. As one of the leading amateurs in the Waikato, Luke was paired with the host Simon Perry and played in front of a large gallery. The host course St Andrew's was playing difficult with the tees as far back as possible and the greens running treacherously fast. Luke was explosive off the tee and rode a red-hot putter home with a 2 under par 70, a birdie on the last hole sealing his victory and the $1000 prize money. Luke beat his two former HBHS teammates Tyler Wood and James Fellows-Ford in this competition, showing the future of golf is alive and well at HBHS. We wish Luke further success when he leaves for Perth in April for the Australian Amateur championship.
