Kashius Baird-Gillett and Levi Ririnui win CrossFit Gold Medals
HBHS students Kashius Baird-Gillett and Levi Ririnui are officially two of the fittest athletes on the planet, after each brought home gold medals from the 2014 Junior World CrossFit Games, held recently in Los Angeles, California. They competed against athletes from all over the world over three days and a total of six workouts, which were all intended to find out who was the fittest overall athlete in each division. These activities included rowing, running, squats, presses, pull-ups, and many more tests of strength, endurance, power and speed. Both Levi and Kashius were tested to their limits, and beyond, but each managed to hold on to their lead, eventually winning gold in the Under 14 Novice division for Kashius, and gold in the Junior Varsity Male section for Levi. The boys would like to thank their sponsors Industrial Athletic and Under Armour, their family and friends for all of their support, and Mr Johnny Gillett of Waikato CrossFit for all of his efforts in training and preparing them to perform at their absolute best.
