Junior Worlds Update - Scott Creighton

Hi everyone

The last few days have been busy with a race, packing our gear, cleaning the house in Belgium and travelling to Switzerland.

We had our last race in Belgium on Thursday. It was anice day with a little bit of wind, although that didn’t do much to the race as most of the course was through streets in town. We were supposed to do a 70k race on a 2km circuit but we had a change of plan as it didn’t start until 5.30pm. Instead we signed on at another race (92 km)round a 6.5 km circuit with turns all over the place, weaving in and out of buildings in a small town called Geel. It turned out that this was a bigger race as well, with 85 starters. Two of my team mates, Hayden and Dylan, got in an early break and got out to a good lead. Half way through the race we other 3 New Zealand riders found ourselves off the front without planning to be, so we put the pressure on and created a chase group with one other Belgium rider.  We stayed away and got within 20 seconds of the front two. We tried to take out the top 5 for our last race in Belgium, but managed top 4 and 6th with me getting 3rd. This is still a great result.

On Friday we spent the morning packing our bikes and all our other gear. This was followed by cleaning the house. Not a fun job but one that had to be done. After lunch we packed the van and travelled to the airport for the next part of our trip, Switzerland.

We flew in to Switzerland, and then after an hour and half on the train we arrived to our accommodation for the next 10 days. we went straight to bed as it was 11.30 at night. Today we went for our 1st ride in Switzerland with a few efforts. I must say Switzerland is one cool place, it's nice and warm with 28 degrease today. We are in the middle of a valley and have Alps on both sides. I am very keen to go on an hour climb and checkout the views, but I don’t think we will be allowed as we are here for track and it’s not the best to do a lot of hill climbing.

Tomorrow we start our first track session at the world UCICycling Centre. I can’t wait.

That’s all for now will have another update in a few days about how that tack training is going.

Thanks

Scott
