Inline Hockey Team Tournament Report
HBHS Teacher in Charge of Inline Hockey Ms Nicola Kueh shares her report of the team's silver medal winning efforts at the New Zealand Youth Games last weekend:
The team battled through four games on the Saturday with 3 wins and a high-scoring 8 - 8 draw, putting the team in 2nd place behind Nelson College heading into semi-finals on Sunday. The team played well against local rivals Fraser High School, winning 3 - 0. This put the team into the finals to play for the trophy. Unfortunately team captain Angus Hamilton-Horne was out with a fractured arm from the semi-finals. The team was determined to step up against Francis Douglas Memorial College (from New Plymouth). Spirits were high and at full time the score was 2 - 2. The match went into 5 minutes of overtime, but with 14 seconds left on the clock, Francis Douglas managed to squeeze the puck past our defense to take the trophy. Therefore the medals were as follows - bronze to Nelson College, silver to HBHS and gold to Francis Douglas Memorial College. Congratulations to all teams and thanks to all of the parents and supports of Inline Hockey.
