Inaugural Old Boys Basketball Game

The basketball season is nearly upon us and the senior basketball squad has been getting into their pre-season work. They have been training hard and recently played a pre-season game v Rotorua Boy’s High School, as well as the inarguable old boys' game.

Old boys came from far and wide to be part of this event,  included Cowen Finch (the first Breakers development player to come from HBHS), Weston Craig (who captained the first Lions basketball team), Jacob Douglas, Curtis Nicholson and Tamaki Courtney (who were in the Lions team that placed sixth in the national competition).  This was an event to celebrate the HBHS Basketball Programme, which, in its earliest form, was headed by our own current Headmaster. The old boys mixed with the older boys to share stories and experiences of their time studying and playing basketball at HBHS. There was a special appearance on court by Mr. McTamney who showed his skill to a delighted audience.  It was a great day shared by all the old boys and was for some the first time they saw our new Gym facility.  I would like to thank everyone who made it a special day.

Mr Doug Courtney, Master in Charge of Basketball
