Impressive medal haul for HBHS Athletics Team

The HBHS Athletics team has competed successfully in a range of events and have come away with an extensive collection of medals in a range of events.  At the recent Central Zones competition the HBHS team won 42 medals, 15 gold, 12 silver and 15 bronze, with 67 placing that qualified for the Waikato Bay of Plenty Championships.  At the Waikato Bay of Plenty event, 13 students qualified for the North Island Secondary Schools competition, and the team won 8 gold medals, 4 silver and 4 bronze, with an additional four 4th placings.  At the Australian National Championships, Blair Pennell finished 2nd in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 6:05.68 minutes, which put him just off the qualification time for the World Youth Championships.  In addition, Isaiah Priddey finished 3rd in the 15oom event, and Samuel Montgomerie finished 6th in the 3000m event.  Blair Pennell also performed very well at the New Zealand Club Championships, winning the Steeplechase and finishing 3rd in the 800m.  Christoppher Goodwin finished 3rd in the High Jump and featured in the 4 x 100m relay team which also finished 3rd.  Congratulations to all of these athletes on these excellent results, and thanks and congratulations to teacher in charge of Athletics, Mr Rodney de Klerk.
