HBHS wins Super 8 Tennis title
The HBHS Tennis team defeated favourites Tauranga Boys' College in the final of the Super 8 held at Papamoa earlier this week. HBHS won on countback of sets after the match was tied at 3-3. The turning point came when HBHS Number 1 player Anton Shepp came back from 2-5 down in the third set and facing 3 match points, to take the set 7-5.
Throughout the tournament, Anton Shepp and Liam Barry were undefeated in all their singles matches. The rest of the squad, Trae Innes, Jordan Taylor and Sebastian Kerr also played with a lot of commitment. This is the first time that HBHS have held the Tennis shield since 2012.
At this tournament, the team also defeated Napier Boys' High School to win a place in the Tennis Nationals. This will be contested in Christchurch between the Top 8 Tennis schools in New Zealand.
