HBHS win big at Super 8 Cultural Festival

The Super 8 Cultural Festival was contested last weekend at Rotorua Boys' High School, and the best actors, speakers, musicians and artists HBHS has to offer headed south to compete and perform in this annual event.  They returned with a collection of trophies and titles, with wins in five events and a third place in Junior Oratory courtesy of Josh Devlin.  The Senior Theatresports team of Morgan Hopkins, Stephen Burroughs, Max Mitchell, Patrick Lynch and James Smith won, as did our Junior and Senior Debating teams.  The Junior Debating team consisted of Nicholas Goodman, Sameer Mandhan and Shilong Young and the Senior Team was the formidable combination of Matthew Handford, Visharn Sathiyakumar and Stephen Burroughs.  Alex Kennedy rounded out the speaking award winners with a first in Senior Oratory, and the Senior Dramatists consisting of Daniel Ng, Morgan Hopkins, Spencer Littlewood, Jamie Ensor, Rohan Thomas, Seattle Tupuhi, George Antionazzi, Liam McGuire, Matthew Stimpson, Josh Davies, Aidan Clarkin-Rush, Alisdair Jay and Alex Kennedy were our other winners.  Congratulations to all of our cultural title winners and thanks and congratulations to our staff Mr James Sutherland, Mr Adrian Botting, Mr Shannon Brown, Mr Kevin Brown and Mrs Mala Varma for all of their support and hard work.
