The 2014 NIWA Waikato Science Fair final was held at the University of Waikato on Tuesday 26 August.  A total of 300 boards were entered into this competition from across the Waikato, with the competition open to all students from Year 7 to Year 13.  HBHS submitted eight high-quality boards and the following boys were given special recognition by the panel of judges:

Highly Commended - Material World: Nicholas Goodman "Give me the good oil"

First Place - Material World: Robert Brodnax "Does it really matter how we store our oil?"

First Place - Physical World: Joshua Monteiro "Motor Efficiency"

In addition to these successes, two of the boards gained special awards, with Oscar Camplin and Ben Rex winning the Natural Resources Special Award with "Sediment Impediment", and Joshua Monteiro winning the Babbage Consultants Major Award for Best Physical World.

Congratulations to all of those boys who participated, the winners, and thank you to the parents who supported the entrants and the school.
