HBHS win Motocross Titles

Mr Nathan Vassella, Teacher in charge of Motocross, reports on HBHS’s latest success in this fast-growing sport…

On the 22nd of March, 18 HBHS students attended the Hauraki Plains Motocross Tournament. The event was very popular, with over 200 students from 22 Secondary Schools attending. Unfortunately, the extremely dry weather leading up to the event made for very dusty racing conditions. Despite the organiser’s best efforts to water the track, the dust was a lingering issue.

HBHS had a very successful day of racing and with the accumulation of every rider’s points we won the event outright. Stand out individual results are as follows: Josiah Natzke (Y10) 1st place Pro 250cc, Jacob Steel (Y12) 1st place Pro 150cc, Aaron Baker (Y9) 3rd place Pro 150cc, Ashton Norton (Y11) 4th place Intermediate 125cc.

Riders are now preparing for a Rotorua Motocross Tournament on the 12th of April.

Once again, I would like to thank all of the parents and supporters. Without their help this great result would not be possible.
