HBHS win 2015 Maadi Cup!

The conditions may have been grim and grey, but nothing was going to dampen HBHS celebrations as the Under 18 Eight beat out a fast-challenging Christ's College crew to win yet another Maadi Cup thriller.  The lead changed several times but as the crews came into view HBHS looked to have the race in hand.  However, Christ's College were not done and they surged again for a photo finish.  Crowds on the banks only knew the HBHS crew had done it when they threw their arms in the air as they crossed the line a fraction of a second ahead of Christ's College.  The day certainly belonged to HBHS, with gold medals won by the Under 17 Four, the Under 16 8 and the Under 15 Four.  The Under 18 Novice Coxed Four won silver, as did the Under 15 Octuple, and the Under 17 Four (Crew 2) won bronze.  These results, along with contributions by other crews were enough to secure the Star Trophy for Best School and the Executive Trophy for Best Sweep School.  We will celebrate the success of our rowing squad in upcoming publications, and look out for a celebration assembly to be held in the last week of Term 1.  Congratulations to every member of the HBHS Rowing Squad and to all of the coaches, parents, teachers, supporters and friends who help HBHS to achieve these wonderful results.  Kia kaha!
