HBHS win Junior and Senior Futsal Titles at Waikato Championships

The HBHS Senior and Junior Futsal teams headed off to the Waikato Secondary School Championships yesterday and both came back as provincial champions.  The closest match for the juniors was their final against Hillcrest which they won 11 – 2, after notching up a string of impressive wins over Te Awamutu College (16 – 0), HBHS Junior Gold (22 – 2), Ngaruawahia High School (18 – 0), Mercury Bay Red Devils (19 – 0) and the Mercury Bay Galacticos in the semi-final (16 – 1).  The Senior team had a tougher run through pool play with tighter scorelines including a 2 – 1 win against Bailey Ingham who they met again in the final.  Their pool play scores included a 12 – 0 win over Te Kauwhata College, wins over Hauraki Plains College 1 (9 – 0) and 2 (7 – 0) and Hamilton Christian School 4 – 0.  After their neaer-miss against Bailey Ingham the seniors came back strongly to win the final 8 – 0.  Congratulations to our newest provincial champions and thanks to Teacher in Charge of Futsal Mr Campbell Wood for this report.
