HBHS win Gallagher Great Race Secondary Schools event
The main race may have gone to the crew in Harvard maroon, but HBHS were all-conquering in the secondary schools events held over the two days of competition for the Gallagher Great Race this past weekend. The HBHS eight were the fastest crew in the time trials and won through to the A final on Sunday where they were again too difficult to beat on their home water. They were equally dominant out of the water in the Million Metre Erg, which was literally what it sounds like, teams rowing for hours until they have covered one million metres. All rowers, even the coxwains compete, and HBHS managed this in three hours. The King of the River, which is awarded to the rower who covers the most distance in one minute was won by Mark Christopher. We congratulate our rowers on their historic efforts, as HBHS have won their event three times in a row. Check out the website for more coverage of our team.
