HBHS team win Waikato Secondary Schools Regional 8-ball Pool Competition

The four team members, Sheng Wang, Callum Hopkins, Alex Paris and Ryan Baker, played a number of group matches in the morning session.  All four players made it through to the quarter finals in the afternoon. Unfortunately Alex and Ryan lost their matches in close games.  Callum and Sheng faced skilled opponents from Ngaruawahia High school in the semi finals, but won through to face each other in the final.  The best of three final went to a third and deciding game. Both players were tense and struggled to pot the final 8 ball. After a few tactical shots Callum was victorious. Both players now have the opportunity to represent the Waikato in the NZ championship in Wellington during the October school holidays.  HBHS also won the Best School Championship based on the excellent performances from all four players in the group matches.  By the end of the day Callum and Sheng had played over six hours of pool but were still able to smile!
