HBHS retain Matt Allen Trophy

In a hard-fought, and sometimes controversial match, the HBHS Hockey 1st XI team have retained the Matt Allen Trophy courtesy of a 1 - 1 draw.  The match was played last night at St Paul's Collegiate, and is an annual fixture between the two schools in memory of Matthew Allen, a former student at HBHS who was tragically killed.  St Paul's scored first, and showed the benefits of having a lot more matchplay than the HBHS side, who were able to level the match with 10 minutes to go thanks to a deflection from a penalty corner.  HBHS Teacher in Charge of Hockey, Mr Phil Basel, said that the draw was the right result for the game, and is looking for an improved showing from the team as the season progresses.  Thanks to all of the HBHS supporters who braved the weather last night to cheer on the team, and congratulations to the team on keeping the trophy at HBHS.
