HBHS dominate the podium at Waikato Bay of Plenty Athletics Championships
The HBHS Athletics team have returned from the Waikato Bay of Plenty Athletics Championships with 32 podium finishes. Our team finished first 15 times, second 10 times and third 7 times. Middle distance runner Isaiah Priddey set a new record in the Senior Boys 3000m of 8:42.47 minutes and on winning the Senior Boys 1500m event was presented with the John Walker Shoes Trophy, as pictured right. This trophy contains the shoes that Montreal Olympic gold medalist John Walker wore when he set the world mile record in Göteberg, Sweden, on 12 August 1975 in a time of 3:49.4 seconds. Congratulations to the team on these results, and congratulations to Isaiah on receiving such a prestigious trophy.
