HBHS and HGHS qualify for New Zealand Secondary Schools Ki-o-Rahi Tournament
Last Wednesday our combined HBHS and HGHS Ki-o-Rahi team traveled to Thames to compete in the Waikato Bay of Plenty Regional Qualifying Tournament. The team breezed through the early stages of the competition, beating Otorohanga College 50 - 8, St John's College and Thames High School 66 - 5, Te Rau Aroha 37 - 7 and Tokoroa High School 29 - 12. In their semi-final match the team beat Te Wharekura O Rakaumangamanga B 27 - 5, but in the final Te Wharekura O Rakaumangamanga A proved to be too strong, beating our side 14 - 21. HBHS students Shaquille Sue-Waara, Ifor Jones and Te Oranga Tai-Rakena were named in the Tournament team and the combined side will now go on to compete in the New Zealand Secondary Schools Ki-o-Rahi Tournament to be held in Tokoroa on 18 and 19 April. We wish them every success and will be following their progress.
