HBHS and HGHS Ki-O-Rahi Team finishes third at National Tournament

A combined HBHS and HGHS Ki-O-Rahi team finished third at the recent New Zealand Secondary Schools National Tournament, held in Gisborne during the April school holidays.  In their first match the team drew 13 - 13 against Rakaumanga Wharekura, then won 22 - 9 over Mana College.  They followed this up with a 23 - 19 win over Karamu High School and a 27 - 10 win over Tongariro High School.  This put them into the quarter finals where they convincingly beat Uawa (Tolaga Bay Area School) 31 - 8.  Unfortunately Gisborne Boys' and Girls' High School put an end to their winning streak with the Hamilton team going down 13 - 10 in the semi finals.  Congratulations to the team on their fine performance to finish third in New Zealand, and thanks and congratulations to Teacher in Charge Matua Mita Graham.  Kia Kaha.
