HBHS Top Boys School in Waikato Secondary Schools Swimming Championships
The HBHS Swim team can confidently claim that they are the best boys team in the Waikato, after finishing first in the Waikato Secondary Schools Swimming Championships held in April. The team finished 63 points ahead of nearest rivals St Paul's Collegiate who finished second in the teams event, with St John's College a further 241 points back in third place. A special mention must be made of Year 11 student Andrew Jeffcoat (pictured) who broke two records at the event. These were in the 50m Backstroke, with a time of 28.33 seconds, and in the 100m Backstroke with a time of 1.00.3 which was over 2 seconds better than the previous record which had stood since 2009. Congratulations to the team and to Andrew on these accomplishments and we look forward to further successes for them.
