HBHS Swimmers are in the medals at the Waikato and North Island Championships
The HBHS Swim team have enjoyed success at the Waikato Secondary Schools Championships as well as the North Island Schools Championships held recently in Palmerston North. In the Waikato competition, HBHS won the Male Team Champions prize with a total haul of 750 points, 80 ahead of nearest rivals St Paul's Collegiate. This was courtesy of 22 first places, 14 second places and 3 third places. The team also broke three records, with Danyon Hardie (Year 11) setting a new benchmark for the 200m Individual Medley, Andrew Jeffcoat breaking the 100m Backstroke record and the Junior Boys 4 x 25m Freestyle setting a new record time. The winning continued at the North Island Secondary Schools Championships last weekend, with Andrew Jeffcoat winning the 50m Backstroke, the 100m Backstroke, the 200m Backstroke and the 200m Freestyle. The team of Zac Corban, Logan Bigwood, Tyrell Priddey and Jaxyn Mihaka finished fourth overall, which is all the more impressive seeing as how the team was competing against much bigger squads from other schools. Thanks to Mrs Jan Missen and Mr Murray McKenzie for their help in supporting our swimmers.
