Honours Awards

The HBHS Honours Awards have been revised.  It is now possible to attain the following:

1. Representative First Team Award

Criteria:

  • Plays the set number of games for a 1st team in one of our six major sporting codes.
  • Can be accumulated over multiple seasons.

Representative First Team Awards have recently been made to:

Rowing: U18 Eight, Selected in U18 Eight, NISS & NZSS Regattas:

Cricket: 20 games for 1st XI Cricket Team

2. Waikato Representative Award

Criteria:

  • Hamilton BHS 1st team.
  • Highest Waikato or Regional team appropriate to secondary school students. For example: Waikato U19 Badminton, Chiefs Regional Rugby team.
  • Plays in weekly Waikato secondary school competition.

1st XI Cricket, Northern Regions Schools’ Representatives

3. Honours Cap

Criteria:

  • Played the set number of games for a 1st team in one of our six major sporting codes for a minimum of 1½ seasons
  • Can be accumulated over multiple seasons

Honours Caps have recently been awarded to:

Rowing: Second Season Crewed in U18 Eight, NISS & NZSS Regattas, Kaleb Foote, Nicholas Anselmi

1st XI Cricket, Played 40 games, Jonty Keaney

 

4. NZSS Championship Award

 

Criteria:

  • Placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in a NZSS Division 1 National tournament
  • Hamilton BHS 1st team or as an individual
  • Highest age group applicable to secondary school students e.g. NZSS Senior Cross Country Champion, 1 st XI Hockey
  • Weekly Waikato Secondary School competition.
  • Sanctioned by the NZSS Sports Council
  • A student representing his club will receive the award only in exceptional circumstances

NZSS Championship Awards have been made recently to:

 Senior Triathlon (Individual)

 3rd Place, Bronze Award, Thomas McLaughlin

 Senior Triathlon (Teams0, Runners-Up, Silver Award, Mitchell Scales, Sam Gaze, Thomas McLaughlin

 Senior Triathlon (Teams), National Champions, Gold Award, Leon Arcus, Corby Price, Theunis Pieters

 

5. Honours Blazer (Pocket) Award

 Criteria:

  • Represented NZ at the highest age group while still a secondary school student e.g. NZ Junior Rowing Crew, NZSS Rugby, NZ U18 Athletics team.
