HBHS Shooting team win Waikato Event
In the final week of Term 2, our shooting team hosted 162 competitors and 32 school teams from as far afield as Gisbourne and Taranaki at the Waikato Clay Target Club and achieved some pleasing results. The HBHS A squad won the teams event with a point score total of 275/300, beating Hauraki Plains B in second place and John Paul College in at third. This was particularly pleasing as it was the first time since 2012 that the team had won this trophy. Individual results saw Andrew Wilson finish second overall on a score of 88/90 going into a shoot-off with 2 others for first to third place which required shooting a further 30 targets. Andrew shot one of the 30 targets with his second barrel dropping one point to secure second place on the day. The HBHS students were great ambassadors for the school and for the sport of shooting. Congratulations also to Matthew Mahoney and Thomas Bates who achieved their long run 25 awards (25 competitive targets without missing). Thanks to Mr Scott Wilson for the report and the photos and for his support of HBHS Shooting.
